Man Sues 50 Women for Defamation Over Social Media Comments

In Los Angeles, a legal clash unfolds as several women, including Olivia Berger and Vanessa Valdez, become entangled in a lawsuit brought forth by Stuart Lucas Murray. Murray alleges defamation, libel, sex-based discrimination, and other charges stemming from their involvement in the Facebook group “Are We Dating The Same Guy?”

Murray is taking legal action against 50 women based on negative reviews posted about him.
Valdez, one of the accused, dismisses the accusations as groundless, emphasizing the group’s role as a platform for sharing personal experiences and opinions, which she believes are shielded from defamation claims.

A man who has faced criticism from numerous single women in Los Angeles is suing 50 individuals over remarks made about him in the popular Facebook group “Are We Dating The Same Guy?” (AWDTSG).

Valdez clarifies, “All I shared were my encounters with him and my views on why he shouldn’t be on dating platforms.” Valdez asserts that she never went on a date with Murray due to offensive messages, including one where he allegedly insulted her. Berger, recounting her interaction with Murray, describes feeling demeaned during their exchange, labeling him as “conceited and excessively arrogant.”

Legal counsel Sam Dodulian voices concern over the lawsuit involving a man receiving unfavorable reviews from women in the “Are We Dating the Same Guy?” Facebook group, branding it as “worrisome.”

Although Murray declines an in-person interview, he directs attention to a website featuring a statement refuting the accusations. In his statement, Murray denies the allegations, alleging that the defendants purposely spread false information about him. Valdez suggests that Murray’s legal actions follow a pattern of targeting women, echoing similar legal maneuvers he has employed previously.

A legal expert remarks, “It appears he’s targeting women who simply expressed their opinions, exercising their First Amendment right to be heard, which is false. If you’re speaking the truth, you should prevail. So there shouldn’t be that risk. But nothing’s going to stop, especially litigious individuals from filing a lawsuit regardless, even if you’re telling the truth,” in an interview with FOX 11.

Murray’s lawsuit seeks $2.6 million in damages from the defendants. Both Valdez and Berger, who spoke with FOX 11, express their intent to raise awareness and secure legal representation and funding to challenge the lawsuit.
