Los Angeles Superior Court Reallocates Juvenile Resources

An increase of case filings for dependency cases combined with a decrease in delinquency cases has led the Los Angeles Superior Court to reallocate Juvenile Court resources. Juvenile delinquency cases cover the involvement of a minor with criminal offenses, truancy, and curfew violations among others. Dependency cases on the other hand, involve minors subjected to neglect or abuse.

Effective December 31, 2015, resources formerly used to handle delinquency cases will be reassigned to handle dependency cases. Specifically, departments 270 and 271 in the Pasadena Courthouse will be impacted. Cases currently assigned to Dept. 270 will be transferred to Dept. 202 at the Eastlake Juvenile Courthouse in Los Angeles. Notifications will be send to minors and their parents.

The following law enforcement agencies will be filing cases at the Eastlake Courthouse beginning December 31st:

Alhambra PD

California Highway Patrol (Central)

El Monte PD

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. (all stations currently filing in Pasadena)

Los Angeles Police Dept.

Monterey Park PD

Montebello PD

Pasadena PD

South Pasadena PD

San Gabriel PD

San Marino PD
