Recent and Upcoming Local Rule Amendments

It is that time of year when courts are publishing their proposed amendments, many to come into effect on January 1st. Staying up-to-date with constantly changing court rules is essential. SmartRules guides are always updated with the latest local rule amendments.

Recent Amendments

The following courts have recently amended their rules:

Local Rules for The District of Columbia Federal District Court were amended on September 23rd.

The Eastern and Southern Districts of New York amended their local rules on September 26th.

Michigan Supreme Court local rules were amended on September 1st.

New Jersey Courts amended their local rules on September 1st.

District of New Jersey amended their local rules on September 30th.

Upcoming Amendments

The following courts have already published their proposed amendments, many to be effective on January 1, 2017.

San Bernardino

San Diego

San Francisco

San Mateo

Ventura

District of Columbia Superior Court has proposed extensive local rule amendments.

District of Columbia Federal District Court proposed additional amendments to several of their local rules.

District of Colorado Federal District Court proposed amendments to their local rules, including adding new Patent Rules.

New York State Supreme Court proposed the expansion of mandatory electronic filing to take effect in October 2016.
